My Writer's Journey Began with a Frog...
When I was about 6 years old, I wrote my first "book", a simple series of pictures depicting a frog picnicking with his bear friend. I knew then that I wanted to be a writer and illustrator of children's books. While the Hoppy Frog lacked a decent a story arc, my desire to write persisted. I'm still writing! Right now, I am working on several children's books, two novels, and collaboraitng with my husband, Ralph Ellinwood. on a family dinner cookbook series.

And Improved with a Fellowship in Editing
I completed a Fiction Fellowship* at CUNY Writers’ Institute (2010-11). Editing feedback from colleagues and instructors and intensive workshops cultivated writing and editing skills and a deeper appreciation for receiving and delivering critical feedback.
*Program Instructors: Nathaniel Rich, formerly of The Paris Review; Deborah Treisman, Fiction Editor at the New Yorker; Steven Galassi, Editor in Chief at Farrar, Strauss & Giroux; and John Freeman, formerly of Granta Magazine.

Children's Stories
Karen Ellinwood has written several books for her children and grandchildren, and illustrates these stories in pencil, ink and watercolor. Some of these books will be offered through Twin Palms Consulting & Publishing. While many are in English, some stories are written in Spanish and English using a dual language interstitial approach, that is, integrating one language with the other.

Cookbook Series
Twin Palms Consulting & Publishing will offer the first in a series of Sunday Family Dinner Cookbooks on how to make creamy, delicious homemade ice cream using reliable, inexpensive and easy methods. Additional cookbooks will address tips for savory cooking, desserts, family dinner recipes and more.
